ABC Let’s Sing! is back – reimagined for today’s digital classrooms and designed to make music learning engaging, accessible and joyful for every child.
Developed through a partnership between the Australian Youth Orchestra’s Music in Me program and the ABC, this refreshed series combines outstanding Australian music, high-quality teaching resources and practical classroom strategies to support teachers in delivering meaningful music learning with confidence. The 2026 series features new songs, performances and interviews with some of Australia’s most celebrated artists, alongside curriculum-aligned teaching and learning sequences created by experienced Music in Me mentors and resource writers.
While singing sits at the heart of the program, Let’s Sing! extends beyond performance to develop musical understanding through listening, movement, games, playing, creativity and active participation. The resources are intentionally designed for both specialist and generalist teachers, providing a clear, sequential pathway that builds confidence and musical skills for teachers and students alike.
In this highly practical and participatory workshop, attendees will experience the Let’s Sing! resources as learners, engaging in a range of singing, movement and music-making activities drawn directly from the program. Participants will explore how high-quality video performances, artist insights and structured learning sequences can be used to foster musical literacy, creativity, classroom engagement and student confidence.
The workshop will showcase simple, effective strategies for introducing and teaching songs, developing musical concepts through active learning, incorporating movement and play, and creating inclusive musical experiences that support participation from every learner. Connections to Kodály-aligned practices, including sequential learning, singing-based pedagogy and the development of musical understanding through active music-making, will be highlighted throughout.
Participants will leave with practical ideas that can be implemented immediately in primary classrooms, regardless of prior musical expertise. They will also gain access to a rich collection of freely available digital resources, lesson sequences and supporting materials through the Music in Me Resource Hub.
This session is ideal for primary classroom teachers, specialist music educators, pre-service teachers and school leaders seeking engaging, evidence-informed approaches to music education that are accessible, curriculum-aligned and sustainable in contemporary school settings.
