We invite educators, musicians, researchers, ensemble directors, and advocates of Kodály-inspired music education to submit proposals for papers and workshops at the 2026 Kodály Australia Conference. Share your practice, research, and creative work with colleagues from across Australia and beyond, as we come together to explore meaningful, embodied, and inclusive music learning for every learner. submissions that showcase inclusive and accessible practice, the use of technology, and global Kodály-inspired approaches across diverse learning settings are encouraged. Early childhood and primary classroom educators are especially encouraged to share their practice.

- Presentation abstracts should be a maximum of 300 words, reflect the conference theme and clearly outline the aim, outcomes, and significance of the proposed presentation for the Kodály Australia community.
- All submissions must include the full name and affiliated school or institution of all presenters
- A biography of no more than 100 words and a headshot should be included for each presenter/author.
- Submissions should be written in clear, professional language suitable for publication on the Conference website.
- Proposals for paper and workshop presentations should be submitted electronically via the Conference Presentation Submission Portal.
- Application close 11.59 pm (AEDT) on Sunday 8 February 2026.
All presentation rooms will be equipped with:
- HDMI connection.
- Projector, screen and speakers.
- Piano or keyboard.
- A small number of classroom percussion instruments may be available on request.
Presenters are responsible for providing any additional instruments, technology, or specialist equipment required for their session.
- All presenters are required to cover their own expenses, including registration, travel, accommodation, and meals that are not included in the registration.
- Presenters must be registered to attend the conference for at least the day of presentation. Full conference participation is strongly encouraged.
- All presenters are required to be current financial members of Kodály Australia.
- Presenters are asked to provide up to four pages of notes for inclusion in the conference program, as well as a current headshot and short bio for inclusion on the conference website, program, and promotions.
- Presenters will be paid at the rate of $120 per workshop and $60 per paper. Sessions with multiple presenters will result in the payment being divided evenly.
If your application is successful, please supply a tax invoice and statement by the supplier (if applicable) for payment after the conference. Invoices must be submitted before Saturday, 3rd October 2026, for payment to be finalised. We will not accept invoices after this time. For presenters who wish to follow the Kodály Australia tradition and not seek remuneration, donate their time and expertise, Kodály SA greatly appreciates this in-kind donation of time and expertise.
Session Type
Submissions should reflect one of the two presentation types outlined below.
Duration: 60 mins (including 10mins Q&A)
Workshops should be highly interactive, practical sessions that actively engage and model to participants Kodály-inspired music education.
- Interactive pedagogical workshop.
- Teaching demonstrations.
- Repertoire discovery sessions.
- Dance and movement workshops.
- Games session.
Spoken Paper presentations enable discussion and reflection on contemporary issues relating to Kodály-inspired music education.
Duration: 30 mins (including 5 mins Q&A/5mins transition).
