Scaffolded, Not Scary – Music Analysis
- Monday, 28 September
- 12:00 pm
Kodály’s principals in musicianship of going from the known to the unknown and highly scaffolding knowledge then gradually giving students greater agency can also be applied to music analysis. Written analysis is often scary, and I have taught students who are paralysed with fear in case they write down something that is ‘wrong’. With that in mind, this workshop will run through some of the exercises I use to give students more confidence in musical analysis in a seamless way – almost as if they don’t realise they’re learning!

Songs and Games for Older Students
- Monday, 28 September
- 3:45 pm
Students need to move! At the Secondary level, they often go from sitting still for an hour in one classroom to sitting still for an hour in another. Music classes can counter this. In this workshop I will teach you some games and songs that I do with my students at the Secondary level. These games are also appropriate for upper secondary school.
